Composer & Conductor of Orchestra

Roberto Fiore is an Italian conductor, composer, and researcher with extensive international experience. His career has taken him across Italy, Argentina, Poland, Portugal, and China, where he has conducted a variety of operas and symphonic productions.
Since 2016, Roberto has been based in China, where he serves as the Founder and Music Director of the Shanghai Nova Sinfonietta and Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Nantong University International Symphony Orchestra (NUISO). He is also the Artistic Director of the New World Ensemble. At Nantong University, he holds the position of Full Professor and Head of the Foreign Teachers at the Art Institute, teaching orchestral conducting, composition, and chamber music.
Roberto's musical education began at the Conservatory of Music "O. Respighi" in Latina, where he obtained his three-year degree (triennio) and two-year degree (biennio) in Orchestral Conducting. He studied Experimental Composition at the Conservatory of Music "Santa Cecilia" in Rome (five-year program), and Orchestral Conducting at the Krakow Music Academy in Poland on a 12-month Erasmus scholarship, where he also served as Assistant Conductor of Maestro Massimiliano Caldi. He earned a Master in Music for Film (Master internazionale di Musica per film) from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, and attended the APO Academy in Buenos Aires on a scholarship in composition and conducting. From 2014 to 2018, he served as Lecturer in Orchestration and Musical Analysis at the Atlantic Coast Academy (ACO) in Portugal. From 2017 to 2020, he was Principal Conductor of the Guizhou Normal University Symphony Orchestra in China.
Throughout his career, Roberto has collaborated with renowned orchestras worldwide, including the Milan Symphony Orchestra, the Nuova Cameristica Chamber Orchestra of Milan, the Orchestra of Koszalin (Poland), the Rybnik Youth Symphony Orchestra (Poland), the Orchestra Domenico Scarlatti at the Puccini Festival, and the Vietnam Ho Chi Minh Opera and Ballet Symphony Orchestra, among others. He has conducted in major concert halls across Asia, including the Shanghai Concert Hall and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Jaguar Theater.
Roberto's scholarly work on Giovanni Sgambati led to the discovery of three previously unknown scores in the Sgambati collection at the Biblioteca Casanatense in Rome. The works were published by Casa Musicale Sonzogno and premiered in February 2015 by the Nuova Cameristica of Milan. The Cantabile has since been performed by the Milan Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Koszalin in Poland, and the Guizhou Orchestra in China. Roberto has also published academic articles in China, Italy, and in international peer-reviewed journals.
In 2024, Roberto was appointed Chief Conductor by the Italian Consulate in Shanghai for a concert during President Mattarella's state visit to China, leading NUISO in Hangzhou.
He works and lives in Shanghai, China.
